This course is designed for students with a strong interest in creative writing, especially poetry. It is a writing intensive course that requires students to write in their journals each week, to practice various writing techniques and styles, to read works of published authors, and to share their own creative works with their peers. Success in the course is based on a student's individual growth as a writer. The final project for the course is an extensive showcase portfolio, which requires self-reflection and skillful presentation for their writing. Depending upon the semester of this course offering, students may write their required senior research paper based on a critical analysis of an author's work.
